With over 30 years’ experience of living with the Rough Collie, as our own family members, we know the consequences of breeders who are uninformed or ignore evidence, breed for the wrong reasons, without actually knowing what further damage they do to the health of Rough Collie.
We produce a litter with the love, dedication, following the science of physical, psychological and social welfare of the adults and their babies. The commitment to the puppy, from first days, whilst with its Mum, in preparation for its life in the environment of human and dog world, supporting its owners to further the puppies exposure, with good information, understanding and education providing proactive advice when necessary.
We have became Licensed 5 star breeders in order to support Collies to produce healthy dogs in order to breed, healthy future generations.
As breeders, health is of the utmost and equal importance, to that of the nature, breed standard and instinct of the Collie. We breed for the future in order to add a little more assurance that the Rough Collie will be to gracing the homes of Great Grandchildren and their future generations, living healthy fit for purpose lives.
We have adopted the ethics of those who DNA test their mating couple before committing to a litter. Knowing that that a puppy given a clinical test may past as all clear at that stage in its life; but it is very likely that they are affected/carrier even though a mutation has not yet presented physically.
A owner who really wants a puppy, would say assuredly, that they do not want to breed, however once they see how beautiful their own dog is, often is the case that they would like a litter from their dog. A venture, that we would indeed support in order that they too are responsible breeders, following the methods to do no damage to the work of dedicated breeds for the future.
therefore that is not a true diagnoses, is not a true reading, with so very few puppies being born today, we need to know what type of health our offspring are going to have, along with what mutant genes have been caused by breeding on our island without Science as a tool to give truly healthy puppies.
We are not responsible for the hard work that went into producing the first clear-non carriers of
CEA, PRA, MDR1, DM, nor can we take accolade for the genes of the wonderful dogs we were trusted with in the beginning of our Journey.
Indeed any one who knows us will tell you that we lived with Collies as our family members for over 30 years.
With every new generation it became evident as owners, that they were beginning to struggle in health. So we invested further as to why.
