Breeding for the future
Honesty, Openness and cooperation
Respect of the Breed, The Customer, Our Peer Breeders
We do not hide behind others, accountability is our ethic.
The lines we hold is because of Wicani Collies in this country. All current breeding local breeding is because of their success in clearing mutation. Not just our Kennel, but every kennel in the UK owes gratitude, that Angela, all those years ago, decided no more blind puppies. All clear kennels in UK owe that to such fortitude. All our current breeding dogs lines are Non Carriers of CEA, MDR1, DM, PRA etc. We personally, cannot rework 40 years of hard work in our own Twilight Careers, so we vowed to move forward with this treasure, buying in non related, non carriers, getting these healthy puppies in family homes. Widening the genepool, with the correct attributes.
Openness, Honesty and cooperation with other breeders, the offer of use to our dogs, to the novice owners helping them in every way, A new breeder, who wants to contribute to health, helping them to find the support we had, educating on how to cause no harm to the strides made so far.
Respecting other Breeders and all customers, saying what you mean and meaning what you say.
It is what it is, we had a very steep learning curve, the Rough Collie needs us all.
1. Breeders, who truly wish to move the breed forward, not just breeding to please a subjective type or judge. Breeding for health as well as all attributes of the Collie Type and form.
2. Respecting everyone, not hiding intent, with Flannel, do don't need to duck and dive, talk our way into a sale, or a purchase of a puppy for the wrong reasons. We support the dog and its family for the whole of its life. If we want to breed we tell and we ask our customers if they want to breed, not to stop them, but to add to their knowledge, so they can do it for the benefit of the breed. We do not pretend to know everything about the Collie, even those with breeders with over 40 years experience will tell you that they are still learning and if they are not, then they shouldn't be doing the job.
3. We have no plans to buy in anymore puppies for the near future. We do not buy Stud or breeding dogs for other breeders. Back yard breeders, have no place in a breeding world, lives are at stake, without health you have no wealth. Just a humans suffers through illness, which we would not deliberately pass on to children, the good ethic breeder must do the same. Therefore all dogs are tested. Breeders of all views, should liaise and be open to the ideas of others. Work with one another to widen the genepool, educate the customer not to try to make a quick buck, by having a litter. Breeding is a profession and all should be professional. Communication is the key, we are all in this project together.
